1. Special Session on Legal Text Processing (LTP2017)

Introduction

Legal text processing is a research area of natural language processing (NLP) specialized for legal texts. The recent development of NLP, which has entered a period of statistical processing, makes it possible to realize advanced intelligent processing. However, research on the legal domain is still a work in progress due to insufficient language resources. The difficulty also comes from requirements of expertise in law, and the feasibility of legal knowledge bases. Thus far, these problems have been discussed in different fields such as NLP, Legal Informatics, and AI and Law. This special session aims to bring together researchers and developers with all these different backgrounds to discuss and exchange new ideas and the latest achievements in legal text processing.

Topics of Interest

Relevant topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

o   Natural language processing for legal knowledge

o   Legal ontology

o   Information extraction from legal resources

o   Translation of legal documents

o   Information retrieval of legal texts

 Introduction

Nowadays there are many practical applications in Artificial Intelligence and the Internet. The Intelligent Software have been created to better serve the increasing needs of the people. These kinds of software have been applied in a wide range of areas such as Expert Systems, Intelligent Problems Solver, Decision Support Systems and another Intelligent Systems. Knowledge Representation (KR) and Reasoning are exciting and well-established fields of research in Intelligent Software. KR is key drivers of innovation in computer science. In recent years, KR has also derived challenges from new and emerging fields including the semantic web, computational biology, and the development of software agents.

This special session aims to bring together researchers and developers with all these different backgrounds to discuss and exchange new ideas and the latest achievements in building Intelligent Software and methods for KR.

Introduction

In conjunction with the 9th International Conference on Knowledge and System Engineering Hue, Vietnam, October 19-21th, 2017. We are pleased to announce the Special Session on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (VAPR2017) to be organized by the Vietnamese Association for Pattern Recognition jointly with the 9th International Conference on Knowledge and System Engineering (KSE2017). This special session serves as an international forum to bring together researchers and experts for sharing their latest research findings and/or experimental results, consolidating potential collaborations, and to advance on going research dedicated to multimedia analysis, pattern recognition and related areas.

4. Special Session on Machine Learning, Data Mining and Big Data (MDB2017)

 

Introduction

Big Data and its applications of machine learning is one of the fastest growing areas in the technology industries. It has attracted significant investment and interest from both corporate and academic researchers alike, with many fruitful collaborations. These efforts has resulted in the development of specialized models and techniques for practical applications as well as general advances in machine learning and related areas of computer science.

The Special Session on Machine Learning, Data Mining and Big Data aims to exchange ideas and research in general data mining and machine learning as well as specific domains. We invite original papers which have not been published or under consideration for publication in any other journal or conference.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

o   General machine learning and statistical methods.

o   Large-scale and heterogeneous data mining.

o   Streaming and temporal data analytics.

o   Outlier and anomaly detection and description.

o   Social media and social data mining.

o   Recommendation, ranking and user behavior modeling.

o   Applications of data mining in healthcare, transport, finance, media and other domains.

6. Special Session on Spatial Data Science and Technology (STATS)

Introduction

KSE 2017 special session on Spatial Data Science and Technology (STATS) serves as a forum for scientific exchanges and technology transfer between researchers, managers and industrial sectors. STATS will focus on advanced developments of spatial data science and technology to address issues related to natural and social worlds. Researchers are welcome to submit papers on theoretical or empirical works, or surveys of recent and future trends in spatial data science and technology.
